What are peoples general opinions, stories etc

Is Farmkey the only company available? Are they ok? Do horses generally need sedation?

Many thanks

I think its a brilliant and obvious way of identifying you horse.

There is another company which does it, but I cant remember the name (having a senior moment!) I think it is freezemark

My horse did not need sedation and he is not a big fan of clippers, but it was done quietly, and professionally and sensitively towards the horse.

I had my three ponies done by Farmkey - biggest pony didn't bat an eyelid, shetlands played up a bit which didn't surprise the woman at all...

I think generally most horses are not bothered and recover quickly.

I found farmkeys admin side of things to be a bit hit and miss, but the lady that came out to freezemark George was brilliant, he didn't bat an eyelid and just enjoyed tucking into a bucket of feed!

My two QH have freeze brands on their left hip, unfortunately my friend, who owned and trained them at the time, had her name put on them...so they have VAL....*sigh*

But she did it so someone wouldn't up and steal them and they are easily identified. They were yearlings when it was done so I believe she did give them something to take the edge off.

Have used freezemark.biz twice and they were excellent. Will be using them again for Prince as soon as they are available in my area

I used Farmkey, no problems, and then also got my passports from them. Makes the passport a bit more meaningful rather than just a description - bay horse with no markings could be anyones!

Had all 3 of mine done by Farmkey about 4 weeks ago now and the lady who came out was really helpful.
none of them were sedated even tho 1 of mine is extremely nervy she was very experienced and knew exactly how to handly the situation.

As I had 3 done at the same time think it was £43.50 each so isnt greatly expensive!

Id definately recommend getting it done for id reasons

Used Farmkey for the 3 boys on 4 Feb. They were really good, really quick to offer a date when they would be in our area.

Blue was the wussy one of the 3 which is surprising because he is usually the most sensible!

Now, nearly 2 months later, the scabs are coming off and then i presume white hair will grow?

I have all of mine done as soon as I can.
I much prefer Freezemark.biz to farmkey.
