I meant to post about this before, but I'm thinking of getting Ned freeze marked (when I buy him) but I honestly don't know a thing about it!

Basically I want to know -

Anywhere in Milton Keynes or Bucks that does it
Can you get a personalised one
Cost
Where's best to get it done, especially since I want to start in-hand showing him more competitively in the next couple of years and will you get marked down for it
What I can expect from the whole process

Thanks in advance! I would offer eclairs, but I ate them all and I think they'd get squashed in the post anyway.

A horse that is freezemarked on a part of it's body so that it can be seen when ridden is easy for anyone to identify and read the freezemark.
There are two companies that carry out freezemarking and they are Farmkey and Freezemark.
They will be happy to come out and Freezemark your horse. The process simply involves the marking irons being frozen in liquid Nitrogen and then placed on you horse in turn. The area that has been marked may become slightly swollen for a few days. You can have personalised freeze marks.

If contacting Farmkey they may take a while to come back to you, it was a week before the local person contacted me after being passed my details but she is a really lovely lady and I imagine would be the same person who would do Ned as I'm not far from MK

Mine were done about 3 weeks ago, they are just in scabby stage at the moment but looking good. I used freezemark and after contacing them they were in my area in about a week. The lady was lovely, even with young cob who decided he wanted to trample everyone. I had personalised ones and was 20 quid more but really pleased with them
