i want to get my horses freezemaked soon and have a few others which are showing intrest in getting theirs done aswell.

with the membership does this need to be renewed yearly at extra cost, what happens if you dont? is this just and extra way of getting more money out of you? as i was assuming that the horse is freeze marked for life and protected.end of.
is this membership needed a compulsory?

Also freeze marking on white areas? does it need redoing or how do they over come this problem? (there is no other area which is a dark patch only bit is a slight patch on her flanks)

also who did you use ect? I will prob end up with 10 +

any info / experiences would be very much appreciated.

I had my mare done by Freezemark Ltd. She is grey so the mark was made on her shoulder as the freeze brands have to be left on for longer to kill off the hair instead of just making it white. My mare never bothered when it was being done. The yearly payment is so that if your horse is stolen you can notify them and they will circulate details of your missing horse.

i am going to have mine personlised and have it under the saddle. my paint is at the ready for the rugs, when they return from being washed.....

so if it is just a register then you can register with say horsewatch instead??? (for less money)

If you are going to have a bald mark (which you will if your horse is mainly white) they are unable to do it on the saddle area I'm afraid.
My cob in my siggy has his on hos flank maybe you will be able to have yours on a coloured patch there?

thanks loulabella. i had a hunch that was the case. I have 5 horses in total all are dark where i want it but not on her (as she feels she need to be different!) do they have certain bits they dont do?

You don't have to keep up the registration, but really is a silly thing to let it slip. By remaining registered you have an experience company who will do all the work in getting your details out to ports, sales, etc. You can pay for up to four years up-front, which is cheaper, or pay yearly for about £12.
