I was passed on to one some time last year but they were moving and selling up, and have only found one other.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Not looking for anything until After August next year but would be good to find out more about the breed and whether suitable etc.

Yes please snowflake if they have a website etc can you PM it me

theyre the two i found I think the Hill farm stud is the one thats closing or moving, thought it would have done by now.

I don't know what happened to Hill Farm Stud!! Harrie is Apollo's dad and we tried to contact them to send some pictures of him after he was born. But, we never managed to get through. I heard they were moving to Ireland, but they seem to have disappeared.

I took a chance and imported a friesian yearling a few years back. I found prices in this country hugely inflated. I couldnt find a decent youngster ie yearling for less than 2500. ended up looking abroad & imported my boy from Holland. I went through friesians4all.com. allthough i now feel i did take abit of a chance i have to say it all went very well & he cost half what he would have over hear including import costs! He is the love of my life.

Liveryblues I was very interested to read your post - have seen that website but don't know anyone who has used it. What age/sex/breeding did you buy? I'd love to know how much you paid, if thats not being nosey - am planning to buy a Friesian eventually. How did the import work - did you have to collect him or did he come to you? Is there any vetting involved?

I also imported from Holland via friesians4all. Bought a 10 year old mare with a foal at foot, reasonable price. Took a chance as I never saw her until she arrived. Very easy to arrange, vetted before shipping. She is an absolute darling and so is her daughter (now rising 4). I realise I was lucky! Only downside was she had a nightmare journey - no one's fault really, gales at sea etc. (I'll PM you with more detail is you're interested).

Hi. I paid £1500 including importing him.(i think the import cost was £280 ish He was 1200ish0 he was delivered to my yard on a massive 9 horse box! this little thing walked off ( i think every one who got wind of what was happening was expecting a magnificent beast to walk off! lol) He was vetted out there at their expense( i think it was included in the price?) I recieved via email the vetting documents all marked with his microchip number. He has good breeding.Make sure you watch out for the inbreeding percentages my boy is 1.92% which is low. Because of how the FPS run their studbook there is the inbreeding/close gentetics to worry about. To be honest despite many questions & a few sleepless nights after i had paid, wondering if i had been ripped of or what might step of the lorry i have to say it all went very smoothly. I checked out many options as i love Freisians but i didnt want to pay the huge prices over here. I decided on him on the freisians4all website asked lots of questions & was all set to go & see him out there, my mum then pointed out that short of escorting him home it would still not guarrantee that the freisian i went to see would be the one which arrived! So after much hairpulling i decided to "do or Die" He passed his vetting ( although as a yearling there are some things they cant do ie flexions etc) it came to the crunch, i paid the money into their account & prayed it would be ok. I was given a date for his arrival, to be delivered to my yard & sure enough he arrived exactly on time. He was a little worse for wear due to the long journey, but he was so well behaved. everyone thought that once he had recovered he would become a handfull, It never happened! he has been the sweetest most gentle, playfull, inquisitive, people friendly horse you could imagine. Someone once told me that you will never be alone in a field with a freisian, they were so right! He just loves people! He doesnt fret if left alone either. Im so glad i have him he is such a character & like i said allthough i was worried everything went exactly as planned. So i cant fault it really.

BTW he was 3 weeks shy of a year old & was a colt, i had him gelded when he was nearly two, He was out of Wikke404 a reserve champion. You can get better breeding but for what i want he is absolutley fine!

I've just bought a part bred from the north east but they had a number of pure bred youngster, let me know if you'd like me to PM the details - I don't know if they are registered though.

Hi

I really like Friesian's and they are on my considering list, do you think if I could find the right one they would be okay for a novice and able to carry around 15 stone.

There is also a website called corporatehorse.co.uk that have a lot of Friesians on there.

The lady who i brought my part bred yearling from has a couple nice youngster for sale and also some part breds, p.m if you want the details

A Friesian would be a good bet for what you want. Mine is a big girl - 16.2hh - and can carry weight. She's also sweet-natured and not easily upset, so a novice, or near-novice could ride her. She's not a youngster - 13 years - which may help, but her daughter, rising 4, is just being broken, and shows all the signs of having a temperament like mum.

My boy is pure bred & has full FPS passport & papers. The more traditional type friesians( baroque) Are heavier built & im sure very capable of carrying weight. They are as has allready been said, generally very good natured.
(As a friesian lover i am probably biased)

My brother is currently selling a 5 y old fresian stallion in Germany, which is a serious dressage prospect. He asked me to try and market it in the UK, so this is a very timely post.....

Lots of responses, Im loosing track of who I am supposed to pm ! LOL

Sounds like a great price for importing, I thought it would cost lots more than that, deffinately an option for us next year then but not till after we have moved, my horse is leaving for his new home on sunday so I know Ill find it hard to wait that long lol

Do be careful buying from breeders in the UK - I have been reliably informed there are NO Freisian stallions in the UK that are fully approved for breeding by the official stud book, so if you buy a foal by a UK stallion, you will not be able to register it in the main stud book.
