As the title says really...
Looked like either a broken neck or a heart attack???

Either way another high profile horse lost

No, it fell on the flat going round a sharp bend away from the second fence!!!

Either he didn't set it up enough for the turn, coming round it on the wrong leg, the horse slipped and broke its neck on the way down...
Or it had a heart attack.

It says Clayton retired on the live results? Surely just a horse fall, without the PTS, would be elimination?

No, eliminations can only occur at fences

Sounds like a horrible freak accident.

Well that's the thing... If it was a heart attack then yes. My heart would go out to all involved!!
However, Clayton looked to 'free wheel' round a very tight corner on the wrong leg, the horse therefore wasn't balanced and lost its legs and nose dived to the floor...

Obviously if it was having a heart attack coming round the corner then there wouldn't have been alot Clayton could have done to 'set it up' for the corner!! If it wasn't having a heart attack, then i'd have to say that it was total rider error

My screen froze as he had his head between his knees going down. My gut feeling is that just a slip up wouldn't have had him doing that, he'd have gone sideways. Clayton appeared to be heading out the front door, again, with a slip up he'd also have gone sideways.

Whatever the cause, apportioning blame is not going to make it any easier for connections......I feel so desperately sorry for them. It's a long way home with an empty space in the lorry........

how horrific...not that i saw it but from the descriptions it sounds like it probably had a heart attack. i watched a horse have this happen out hunting. it was horrendous.
