If anyone has any advice/ideas can you let me know? Thanks :-)

A quick summary;

- Horse is 16 yrs old, gelding, 15.3hh

- Is in light hacking/schooling work, 4-5 times a week. Has had this pattern of light work for some yrs (Up to 1.5hrs hacking, mostly at walk, or 30-40 mins on lunge/schooling with good gentle ups/warm downs)

-He was working in a quite deep sand/rubber arena in the summer, did 2 rounds of clear jumping, around 2'6". I think he found it quite hard because the next day the yard called me to say he had fat front legs. They were filled down the back from the knee down, most apparent above fetlocks at side/back.

- He was not especially used to going in that school as I normally use a firmer surface.

-After a couple of weeks of aggressive cold hosing the legs seemed much more normal. Vet seemed happy.
However, although I see him on few mornings, when I do see him, he appears to have a little swelling at the side of his front legs, above fetlock.

I have also noticed that after working him, if I check a couple of hrs later (after he's stood still in his stable), the slight swelling is there when it hadn't been before work/when coming straight out of the field before work.

He did have lymphangitis a few yrs ago and one of his hinds is always a tiny bit bigger than the other. Other than that, no other issues with the lymphangitis.

He has hay or wet hay (no haylage) and eats high fibre nuts or fibre cubes with hi-fi.

Any ideas what could be going on here? Any advice as to what might help?
Many thanks for getting this far!!

tbh, if he's sound, and the swelling goes as easily as it arrives, and there's no heat in the legs, then I'd put it down to his age.

Ron's 18, and his off hind swells overnight in the stable, but by the time he's walked the 100yds to the gate it's gone.
