My friend's horse was pts this afternoon - vet says he's never seen anything like it so they're doing a post mortem.
He was found in the field this morning, had clearly been rolling and rolling for hours, you could see the flat areas in the field; he'd pawed a hole a foot and a half deep at the gate. He was bleeding from his bottom and passing what looked like bits of gut. When they got him to the vet hospital they found that his rectum had split and had to put him to sleep.
He was there a couple of months ago after his pancreas flipped round his intestines, but it was manipulated back into place and he's been fine since. He was 5, and a WBX (I think).
Has anyone else ever seen/heard of a horse with this kind of thing?
