My 6 month old pure bred Friesian filly arrives very soon and I would like some advice on food for her. I haven't had a youngster for many years and I am totally confused about what to feed !! My thoughts are grass nuts, stud balancer and speedi beet??

Ohh, how exciting, make sure you post pics :)

Is she on any hard feed at the moment?

I never feed my youngsters any hard feed until they are being ridden and need it. They just have as much grass and hay/haylage as they want.

Sorry, I feed at the opposite side of the spectrum (a semi-retired Tb), so you'll be getting better advice from posters who are knowledgeable when it comes to youngsters.

But please, where are the photos of your filly?

(BTW I feed fibrebeet, a handful of apple chaff, magnesium and cococarob)

My youngsters (friesians) used to get half a cup a day of youngstock balancer along with ad lib hay/haylege - they only got the balancer in the winter though.
