These links remind me of the summer job I once had at a small livery stables between Milan and the Italian Alps. It was fair to say the people there had no horse sense and no likelihood of developing any. The owner had an unfortunate and embarrassing tendency to lose his temper at his horse every time his bad riding caused him problems. On one memorable occasion he tried to have a go at me for being the only person to stay on when all the horses got a fright on a hack we were both escorting. And we used to have an ongoing silent battle regarding feeding of an underweight horse, I used to sneak out later and later at nights to add more hay and a rug which he used to remove!
