As title really, this is one of my ongoing dilemmas and I STILL can't take the final plunge!!

There are lots of posts about people switching to lorries and loving it but has anyone on here ever done it and wished they hadn't?

Thank you

Funnily enough im looking to swap my trailer and 4x4 for a small box but im also hesitant !! Im doing it as i have had both for 5 yrs so getting to the point i want to swap them both. Im just hoping im not going to regrett swapping from something that costs me nothing and takes hardly any maintaining to something that needs taxing plating etc!!
So i would also be interested in this post!

Both myself and my friend this year swopped from box to trailer and sorry but we don't regret it!! The only thing she misses is a sit down area at shows! But the savings she's making easily over ride that!!

we went from a box to a trailer due to the box not passing the MOT (old bedford 4 cylinder dealer box) and hated it. i mean, theres no where to change, have a cuppa/bacon sarnie, sit down out of the rain, store things, dont travel half aswell etc ect. 4x4 was the main car aswell so drunk petrol like it was going out of fashion and cost a lot.

recently went back to a box, and it is really really good. better fuel economy(!), been able to go to a smaller car for everyday which means less tax insurance and fuel.

would never go back to a trailer by choice :)

I went from pick up and bateson ascot it worked ok for moving horses but you car'nt beat a lorry for practicality tack storage, horse safety and its great to have your own loo, shower, bed and cooking facility, and if you like having friends or family round you at shows its great for that and unless you realy need a big 4x4 you can get a small diesel car and save a fortune in running costs esp if you do more than a few miles to work or whatever..

I swapped from a trailer and 4x4 to a lorry about eight years ago when I changed horses to a bigger model and really regretted it. I was happy and confident towing my trailer around to various places, but for some reason I never gelled with driving the lorry and absolutely hated it. Doing any sort of maintenance on it was difficult (I'm not technical and my OH wasn't interested), getting it plated every year was a pain and I wished I had never bought the thing within the first year. I tried to sell it but no-one was interested (it wasn't flashy looking enough on the outside apparently).

Okay, you don't have the accommodation that a box has, but I didn't particularly find that a problem and was happy to put up with it for the sort of things we were doing. If you were off doing shows/events every weekend for long periods of time come rain or shine I can see that you probably would want the luxury of a living area. The result is that my lorry is neglected and mouldering away at our yard, not having been used for several years now, and I would just like someone to wave a magic wand and get rid of it!

I used to have a landrover and trailer but 2 years ago got a 3.5 renault master horsebox, I love it! it's easy to drive, doesn't use too much diesel, no hitching up!!!, nice to have a bit of living to get changed etc, find it cheaper to run car on daily basis instead of 4wd & just use horsebox when needed, horse also travels better in it than trailer. As it is a van conversion it doesn't need plating either..don't think I would ever want to go back to towing!
