I have a new saddle, which has been fitted and tested by physio for fit and it is said to fit well with no pressures etc. It is comfy apart from it makes me feel like I am sitting forwards on it, and leaning forwards. I keep sitting up but minutes later, realise that I am leaning forwards again. I have sat here thinking, what about a front riser pad?
This would make it sit up higher at the front and I have just phoned saddle fitter and asked him if it would make any difference to the fit and he has suggested to try it. On failing this, he has said that he could put some more padding in the front. Does anyone use one? If so, which ones are the best ones for staying in place etc. I dont want one that is too thick everywhere else either.
Thanks

I know this isn't what you want to hear...but if you need a front or back riser bad, then your saddle doesn't fit.
The saddle should fit both your horse AND you - otherwise you will ride in some strange contorted fashion (assuming you already don't

Get your saddler back and b******k him til he fixes it (sweetly, though).

I do think some saddles (and some horse's backs) tip you forwards no matter how well they fit, but definately check the fit yourself, particularly to see that there is enough wither clearance, if not then a front riser pad will help but you need to be aware the saddle isn't a perfect fit. I have a shires front riser pad and found it very usefull when I first got my horse and he had no back muscle, now he doesn't need it anymore.

I found a sheepskin pad very helpful, My dressage saddle tilted me forwards very slightly but a sheepkin pad actually evened this out. Maybe worth trying to see if you can borrow one.
