Front/Rear Riser?

I am having some serious problems getting a saddle to fit my daughter's section A. All the saddles so far tried have ridden up the neck quite alarmingly. I just wondered whether a front or rear riser might help but where on earth would you get one that small?

The saddle looks like it is at an alarming angle with the pommel much higher than the cantle after on a matter of minutes.

Completely stumped!

Its not exactly a riser but you could try one of those jelly type non-slip pads to put under the saddle?

What does your saddle fitter suggest? I would think that a riser pad would just make a badly fitting saddle even more insecure. In the old days a well fitting saddle on a round pony with no withers/shoulder would have been secured with a crupper, but not sure if they are still something people use. And wouldn't be any use on a badly fitting saddle anyway :)

I wouldn't bother with front or rear risers if the saddle fits properly. They can sometimes tip the saddle too far forward or backwards which is just creating another problem.

Echo the above for using a crupper :) It should hold the saddle in place no problem

I cannot use a crupper in a leadrein class unfortunately!

I have a horrible feeling I am going to have to get a saddle made to measure!

Does anyone else out there have any thoughts or experience with this one?

Try the gel eze non slip pads. I have a Dartmoor pony whose saddle looks like its made to measure and is fine on the flat but as soon as there is a show field on a slope it rides forward. These pads stop it and you can cut them to size to fit under any sized saddle so that you can barely see them. Think there are loads on ebay at the moment fetching about £20 ish but thats alot cheaper to try than a new saddle!

Now that is a good idea! I think I might try that one - thanks!
