Barons high withers are still causing me problems

I have him in a wintec with M/N gullet in, it is now sitting ok but could still do with being an inch higher.

I am going to price up having a saddle made for him on saturday or having one fitted with a cut back head. But I cant afford one until the end of may. So as a temproary measure I would like to get him a front riser pad that doesnt cost the earth. I wondered if anyone can recomend one thats good?

Please dont think Im doing this instead of having a properly fitting saddle, his saddle is not causing him pain, i have had it checked, he could just do with having one that sits a bit higher off his withers.

I havent looked at any yet, but will keep that in mind. I have 2 saddles, a leather and a synthetic but currently using the synthetic one only. Im going to the saddlers on saturday to see what they recommend and get some prices, once I can afford something they think will suit him Im going to get them to come and measure him up properly.

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for

I am not keen on the wintec and neither was my saddler. They recommended the prolite wither pad. Which you place under the saddle over the wither area. My saddle is a bit too big and this has been great

I have one of those somewhere- will put it on ebay if I can find it. It was the biggest waste of £100 ever. It was difficult to use and completely useless.

I've used a wintec before and it worked fine, it was fairly cheap and kept the saddle comfortable for the horse until she built up some muscle and filled out. I wouldn't recommend one for a long term basis but for a short term economic solution until you get the saddle sorted it'll do the job.
