Hmmm decisions decisions, so I thought I'd see what the majority of you guys would do.
Mr Mackenzie has rather conveniently disposed of both his front shoes despite only been shod 3 weeks ago, first one came off 2 weeks ago, second one while I was on holiday, his feet are in what appears to be good condition, plus my farrier always said he's got great feet, but it didn't stop the buggaroo pulling them clean off...complete with all the nails too! there a little chipped just round the edges but no chunks or cracks from pulling the shoes off which is good.
Found one, so my farrier said yeah no probs, be the wet weather, I'll bob them back on, but I'm not sure if it would be best to leave them for a month....because he'll need trimming back to level them off, nails to go back in again...will he be a bit foot sore...will he just pull them off again but damage the hoof next time? he doesn't do a lot of road work but we a stoney yard so all the flat footed horses in my opinion benefit from having shoes when walking across the yard from stable to field etc and Mr M is quite flat footed.
Would you have the put back on, or wait a month for a little more horn growth and then have them back on?
never had to problems with past horses loosing shoes...its always been everyone else...now its my turn I guess
££££
to be folking out on shoes every too minutes...but at the same time I dont want to knacker his feet up.
