My mare has mites on her legs. She has a bit of feather,Iv been advised to use frontline to get rid of the mites how often are you suppose to apply it before the mites die..
We clip the feathers off and apply the frontline to the skin, its quite important it goes on the skin as its gets dispersed over the skin via the oils... we find our cob gets irritated at first (sure they are running for their lives lol) then settles, we use it probably twice a year.. lasts 3 mths in dogs and couple mths in cats, so guess from there x
Yes i have washed her legs with insectisidal shampoo but no luck..I think the best option is to clip her feathers off treat with frontline then apply the pig oil/sulphur and see how that works out.Think maybe im best off keeping the legs clipped for a while to let the skin breath a bit
Whatever product/s you use, remember you have to repeat it about 10 days after the first application. Only the adults are killed in the first application. The eggs are unharmed and hatch out in approx 10 days and bingo - horse infected all over again. A double dectomax injection works for my boy (though vets have to come out twice).
I heard is it Ivermectine works , my Vet advised a friend and she swears by it , she has a hairy cob and doesnt want to clip legs and she'd tried all the usual shampoos/creams etc , and this works .
