I treat my dogs with frontline on a regular basis and have noticed fleas on my smaller terrier. He is not infested but I have not had this issue before. Several of my doggy friends have experienced the same. One was actually told that frontline have removed an ingredient which reduces it effectiveness. I am really annoyed if this is the case as I shelled out £50 only a few weeks ago!! I understand that there is another similar flea treatment you can only get via vet - does anyone know what this is? I can't notice any on my lab but then he is black but my poor little White fella (who has allergies anyway and this is making it worse) is scratching away. Anyone else had this??

Yes I have had the same. I used Frontline on both my dog and cat awhile ago, went to vet for their annual vaccinations and she checked for fleas as part of the check-up...and both of them had flea droppings in their fur. I was not pleased as same as you I had only recently bought new supplies for both of them. Vet advised me to try Advocate instead so had to spend another fortune, anyway it does seem to have worked now so not using Frontline again.

Thanks WandaMare, I am sure that was the name someone mentioned to me. Blooming annoying, I will not touch frontline again!!!! It's not like if is a cheap treatment either!

I alternate between Frontline spoton and Advantage as Frontline while shite on fleas is good for ticks and I REALLY hate those buggers!

Hi kaylum, they are wormed regulaly with drontal and have no issue with worms. It is def the front line, my friends have all had the same thing recently.

The old frontline hasnt changed its ingredients only its licensing hence being able to be sold over the counter. The frontline combo is better as its stops the fleas being able to lay fertile eggs so they wont hatch as well as being an adultacide. There has been many reports of resistance to both frontlines tho recently and with the rising problem of lungworm i'd definately recommend changing to advocate for dogs to prevent this and treat for fleas.

They do advocate or stronghold for cats which we find are equally as effective.

Remember if you see fleas your pet prob has tapeworm as fleas carry the tapeworm eggs, when pets groom the ingest the flea and hey presto your pet gets tapeworm!

that's good it's just some owners don't understand the relationships between fleas and worms lol!

Yes Advocate, not Advantage (knew it began with an A)!!

Just as shame it has no effect on Ticks, they are a real problem near me.:(

That's a pain about ticks yes. Maybe look into advantix, I haven't had any dealings with it but know it repels ticks. Not sure if you know that frontline only does ticks for 4 weeks, treats fleas for 8weeks. I'm waiting for the day these drug companies bring out a fandango all in one spot on prep lol! Xxx nightmare trying to get a regime together and very much depends on where u are and what your pets are at risk of. We see loads of lungworm, very few tick cases xxx good luck xx

Thanks Amy_b, I found it very useful. :-) I've ordered advocate to pick up tomorrow and will get some if the spray. Also worming again with a tapeworm killer! It's awful I keep feeling itchy!!

I went into the vet today to purchase wormers and flea treatments for the cats and dogs. Receptionist gets all the wormers and then offers me Frontline. "Have you anything else?" I ask "I understand that Frontline may have changed the recipe and this has rendered the product ineffective" "Yes you are quite right" Says receptionist "Would you prefer Stronghold?"

WTF!!!!!!!! She was merrily going to charge me for something she knew to be useless!!!!!!!! Large amounts of "Hurrrrumph!!"

So thanks to the OP, you saved me a lot of money!!

I wish I had known before Suelin, I have a lab and a smaller terrier so bought a pack of 3 for both of them and for my 3 cats. Cost me a fortune and now got to get a different brand. So angry!!! The frontline plus isn't much better I understand. V annoying!!! Glad you checked, flea treatments aren't cheap.
