If there is a frost - when is it safe (or as much as) to turn ponies out. I have just moved mine from muddy winter to very good winter and am concerned re the pending frost tomorrow am!

I would say when the grass is green and soft instead of white and stiff. But also, perhaps more important, if you are in doubt, turn out in the old muddy field with hay rather than in the new frosty grass field (if that is possible).

Is it not the case that the frost changes the sugar content of the grass? If so, then surely the grass must be "a risk" longer then as soon as the frost melts???? Desperate not to leave in muddy field as at present it is in OK condition. Much longer and it will need re seeding etc.
