I am trying to bring my horse back into work after having only being ridden very lightly in the past year and a half due to ligament injury.
I am not working her any longer than 30 minutes (plan to increase this by 5 minutes each week) will be riding her 4/5 times a week, spend around 60 - 70% of the time in walk/halt/circles/serpentine's and then the remainder time in trot. Her walk is lovely and active, her trot is horrendously rushed and she appears to fall off the track alot but I feel that with time and schooling this will calm down but I am concerned that sometimes I really am pulling back hard on the reins to get her to come out of trot, otherwise she is very responsive to the rein (with turns). She's on a snaffle bit.
Going back to the title........ my understanding of mouth frothing is that she is accepting the bit and listening but I feel that in trot she's not really listening at all. Is there another meaning to a horse frothing at the mouth?
