hey guys

Im trying out different things i can make for my boy to keep him ocopied whilst grooming as he gets very irritated and bored just stood on the yard.
someone suggested that i could blend down apples, carrots and parsnips to a pulp then freeze and give this to him in block shapes!
would this be ok i cant find any information on the net as to weather frozen fruit would be ok for him

thanks for the help

I made frozen fruit blocks in the last really hot spell we had - I made them in old field lick containers (or ice cream containers) and the ponies loved them. They can't get huge chunks out so aren't swallowing ice, just licking and enjoying. I used apple juice mixed with the water to surround the fruit pulp contents. They aren't hanging around long enough to melt, and go back in the freezer between uses.

If you are worried about the ice thing how about apple bobbing? just give him a sturdy bucket with about 8 inches of water in it, and add the chopped apple / carrot etc. Or string some carrot or apple or turnip type pieces onto string and hang it up for him.

thank you so much angelbones
I was starting to worry about it lol, well i havnt made them in containers just tupperware boxes that ill knock them out off and not much water mainly just alot of really blended down fruit.
I think i shall leave it in the box then so he cant crunch on the ice cause the reason im doing this is because he totally destroys the lick its you can buy in a matter of minuets xx

oh sorry i didnt see the other bit you wrote

well i tried tying a suede to a string but it didnt last him long lol but the apple bobbing idea sounds great will try that one tommorow
