My horse is 3 days into a course of antibiotics and last night for some unknown reason our fridge went a bit haywire and froze the milk.... just realised it's also frozen the bloody penicillin :(
Is it ok to thaw? Is this absolutely a vet question?!
I have two bottles and the unopened one is ok thank god so will use that today but is the other wasted?

I'd drop your vet a message but I can't see why it wouldn't be ok?

I don't envy you, I hate doing penecilin jags.

Oh I know, I don't mind on other people's horses but feel mean on my own ;)
This isn't a big eater sadly and I just knew if I asked for powder I'd be going back on Monday as he would turn his nose up at it!

Other thing you could do is call the manufacturer customer helpline on Monday. They will know the stability data and if a freeze thaw affects it or not. I suspect they will advise you to discard it.

I'll call my vet tomorrow, I didn't want to disturb them on Sunday for a non-emergency.
So annoying! Even the cheese is solid!
O/H thinks frozen ham will be fine for his sandwiches tomorrow 😂 He's on his own there! I'll go without!

Drat. An expensive morning!
A whole fridge full of food, horses meds and maybe a new fridge :(

Penicillin is not that expensive about £8 /bottle . Chuck it and get some more we do not keep any medicines in the fridge as most need to be above 5 degrees c obviously any that need refrigerating we will but they only tend to be vaccines.

There's should be a data sheet in the box which will explain but usually if it does below 2 degree this unfortunately denatures so it will be no good unfortunately.

Really?! I was sure last time it was £50 ish.
That's a relief 😀
