The only possible tip I could give is to sprinkle salt all over it! You can buy huge sacks from certain suppliers. (Need to google it). I did this in my indoor school as it kept it damp - which sounds a contradiction but obviously salt is used to melt ice on the roads. It had no adverse affect on my horses' hooves or feet.
The "instructions" that came with ours said that if it froze over then we just had to add grit salt. We haven't tried it yet but ours is frozen too. It's rideable but quite hard.
My friend covers hers with horse poo, sounds bizare but totally works, hers was soft and totally usable today, in -10.
Have no idea what would it would be like when wet though - yuk!

Bet it does wonders for the drainage - not
hi we have exactly the same problem on my livery but they do same cover it in sand grit in the huge bags that we can buy but some say in the future it ruins the surface so we havn't put anything on our surface! its still alright to do flat work and dressage but not for jumping as still is a little hard in places! (blumming weather lol)
