A sieve is good for ice removal. I bought some seal skin gloves last year and they leaked. No one else's seem to. I should have sent them back really.

Colander is what we use it has a long handle so your hands dont get wet and big holes so it drains quickly

^^^ Hammer to break the ice, then a colander to fish the ice out, put ice in a wheelbarrow to take away to tip it somewhere suitably out of the way.
