Where do all these timewasters and unscrupulous people hide?...... and why do they always ring up for my horse!?!

Is it just me, or is anyone else having the same problem with people responding to adverts?

My mare's advert could not be clearer and she is priced to reflect the market for what she is.... a nice broodmare.

No you cant buy her unseen for your 13yr old child who is having riding lessons, but yet is capable of rebacking a horse....

What kind of question is....how high does she jump?

If I wanted to give her away I'd say in the advert.......

But my fav question was....... 'Would a normal person notice that she was 1/10th lame behind, or would a bute sort it?'........... pfffftt!

I'm sorry but I just needed a rant............ Hope you dont mind :-)

(This is not an advertisement for my horse, merely an observation)

i know its awful!

When we advertised my beautiful New Forest who won ponies UK and is sired by Bucklands Dragonslayer one of the best! we had someone ring up and started saying the price we were asking was ridiculous (it wasnt much! home was more important) and that he wanted to pay £500 cos he just wanted a pony to have!

The pony in question won most working hunter's I did with him and had perfect conformation with excellent breeding and won Ponies UK.

I have only had one silly enquiry about my mare and it was a gentleman from scotland phoning (I am in birmingham) and then telling me my pony was too expensive - why on earth did he phone then if he thought she was expensive!!

Its awful........ I had someone phone me last night at....wait for it.....1120pm!

He was clearly a dealer who wanted to make a quick buck and wanted to send a transporter for her this morning, He actually sounded naffed off when I told him I wouldnt sell her to him!!

Then he tried to make out he wanted her as a broodmare 'to turn out with a friends stallion!' ...... the cheek of it!

I'd rather keep her than sell her to someone like that! .....

I know exactly how you feel - we let our Welsh mare go on trial to people we knew prior to purchase - right from the outset I made it absolutely clear that she had a history of laminitis, therefore would not pass a 5* vetting and would not travel in a forward or rear facing lorry or trailer. After the fortnight's trial we get her back - totally lame (in all four feet) after lots of fast jumping work because ............. yes you've guessed it ...... she failed a 5* vetting and won't travel in their trailer.................................. gggrrrrrrrrrr
She is now in a 10* home as a permanent loan, spoilt to the back teeth and semi retired - twisting everyone round her little finger.....

Everyone I've had ring up about my mare has been an utter numpty.

You almost get to the point of being rude in the advert as to who you want to call.

I had one person call who couldn't decide if they were a novice or not, then someone called about her, then started telling me she'd had death threats and some random, then someone call who'd sold her horse a week before and was basically trying to replace her.

Brilliant!

I feel your pain.

nope i've had a few stupid questions as well when i advertised my pony. he's an unbacked 12.2hh pony, 4yrs old, gelding. i clearly stated all this in the adverts and i had people asking if they could bring their grandkids to try him out before they bought him.
would he be up to pony club (which was in 3 weeks from that question) camp?
will he make 14hh?
would he make a good stallion?

so yeah they kinda get on my nerves with questions like that.
