Took my my gorgous horse to his first novice at gatcombe on sat just gone. Was slightly worried as my show jumping has taken a long time to sort its self out and had had a few wobblies earlier in the week.
Must say wat a beautifully run event and lovely xc and sj courses deff a course for anyone wanting to do there first novice.
I managed a 29.1 dressage which left me third place after the dressage, was pretty shocked by the mark as my chap can't even do medium trot. though was a nice test.

Went to the sj feeling dreadfully nervous but new we cld get round, jumped the course beautifully until the flippin last fence and got a awful stride and he kinda fell through it I flew up his neck he panicked and took off. Once i had manged to get my self back in my saddle went back through the timers. so had four faults and four time. Shame to wot was looking like a perfect round for me!

XC even with those faults cld have still got placed just had to go clear thought was deff a possible.
Having a dream round until got to a log to wall on angle for some reason managed to mess up he fell on the wall threw me back up his neck so I was now on his head and had know choice but to let go and fall off!
Got back on finished the course in great style and with such ease. so and little annoyed by silly mistakes. But I guess it was just one of those days!

Sounds like a really positive day. Annoying the one mistake ended up in a fall but atleast you completed and did everything else really well. Sounds like you'll be in the ribbons when it comes together.

What an excellent mark for your test! Really not too bad considering it was your first novice and as you say - no major mistakes, just silly things which are easily put right. Good luck next time
