full chaps or over trousers for riding in cold?

Trousers all the way!!! What happens if you get caught out in the rain or snow on your horse? You get a soggy bum thats what! I wear thick, padded Ornella Prosperi Waterproof Trousers - very, very warm and long lasting and I don't exactly wear them sparingly! 4 lots a day, round the yard, then all of mine lol!

So yeah, trousers all the way for me!

Full chaps every time - mine are waxed so are properly waterproof, and are lovely and warm.

I've tried many pairs of over-trousers over the years, and have yet to find a pair that are genuinely comfortable - most ride up the leg / make a horrid noise / are far too bulky / dig-in round the waist etc. Although maybe it's just me!

I don't even notice my full chaps are on - love them :D

ETA just seen above post - lol! My riding coat is quite long, helps to avoid soggy-bum ;)

I keep forgetting so I end up with none :p so a very wet bum and legs for me generally.

I have no excuse as I do have 2 pairs of over trousers and just got new chaps. I'd probably choose chaps over the trousers though.

I have Shires full chaps, but not the furry lined ones as they are too hot..! But I also wear a coat that is a similar style to a long coat, but only comes to my knees, so my bum is covered and I don't get a wet arse...

:D

Again another one for full chaps I have Harry hall ones with a hi vis strip down them fleece lined so keep me warm, I don't wear a long coat and don't tend to get a soggy bum lol!

Full chaps also. Went mad this year and ordered full leather ones which were made to measure. Really comfy and wear them for schooling and hacking. They are sooo warm and should last me for years!
