I am getting my 23yr old heavyweight cob fully clipped for the first time this year as she gets so itchy with a full coat. She was high trace clipped last year and just had either a light or medium weight stable rug on all winter. I did put a 10oz rug on her when it was very cold but she just got hot, my dilemma is as she's going to have no hair this year do i need a heavier rug or just stick to the ones i've got but layer them ie she has a 6oz rug whitch i was going to put a weatherbeeta combo fleece under or my other plan was to get her a 220g combo under rug to go with this 6oz stable rug. What should i do!! xxxx (P.S i sold the 10oz rug)

My H/W cob lived out with a full clip last year as we moved to our own land & didn't have any stables. He wore a medium T.O with a neck cover, which we changed to a heavyweight combo when it got colder ( late December). I only had to reclip once as normal, & he always felt warm. His legs were un clipped & I only took of a half head.
Hope this is of some help.
