I bought my mare a full face fly mask and tried it on for size and she had a 'sneezing' fit. I thought it was coincidence so took it off and tried again and the same thing happened.
I presume she didn't like the lower part being near her muzzle. Has anyone had a similar problem? Should i make the net shorter and see if that helps

Yes. Had exactly the same reaction when I tried one for my boy, He hated the nose net... and developed a "tick", It really upset him, he wouldn't let anything touch his nose. He only wore it for 2 days. Now he's not wearing it he's back to normal!

Probably just need a face mask without the nose piece.

My horse sneezes constantly if she has a fly mask with nose cover. I left her for two hours and went back to check her and she was still sneezing so I took it off. She hated it so I use sudocrem as a sunblock on her nose :)

Do they need fly masks already? I haven't seen any flies about! I would either not bother at all with it (after all, horses are designed to deal with these things) or just chop the nose bit off! We did this with a fly mask one of ours had - he gets bugged by flies a bit. Just chopped the nose bit off as it seemed to annoy him. I don't put fly masks on my horse at all he just does not seem to like them one bit. Oddly though the flies don't tend to pester him as much as the others.

My boy was the same. I left him to sneeze it out initially, and it let up after 10mins or so. He did remove it fairly consistently though... then trashed it completely. We gave up after that. He was the same with bucket muzzles.
