Hello everyone,

How much would you expect to pay/charge per week for full grass livery? I'm thinking along the lines of..

Daily sun cream/fly spray application (if applicable)
Feeding (feed supplied by owner)
Poo picking
Bringing in if weather horrendous (although I think a supplementary hay charge would have to apply)

Thaaaanks xx

I am on full grass livery and we do our own poo picking. Each owner feeds their own horse/s .We only feed hay in the fields in winter and we all chip in towards the cost depending on how many horses each owner has. We pay £8 per week per horse

If you offer services then surely thats assisted livery not full grass livery

To me grass livery is fully D.I.Y but obviously to others it is different

Hi, I think generally grass livery DIY is about £15 perwk give or take depending if facilities are available.. ie arena, hardstanding, stable for emergencies. I would expect to pay about 40 ish per week for full grass livery, ie, rugs changed. twice daily checks(at least) feed(supplied by me) & all the other little bits (within reason) that you would do yourself but wish to pay someone to do :) Hope that helps x

I think ellies_mum, OP means full grass livery in comparison to full stabled livery. ie paying someone to take full care of your horses need while at grass on 24/7 basis. Grass livery but with Full paid for care on top :)

In my area full grass livery is 40-50 pw including hay and depending on facilities!
Not sure about the "bringing in if whether horrendous" bit. Either it's grass livery or it's not!

ohhhhhhhh I'm with you now. Have had one of those days where the light is on but theres no one home :o :D

Thanks guys!

To shed a bit more light....it's really holiday grass livery I guess - owner wants horse looking after for 5 weeks whilst she's away, but to live in the field.....The bit about coming in if weather is horrendous I guess is on my part to save the fields if the horse starts looning it around when all the others come in!!

Would it include hay put out in the winter (or summer if grass is sparse due to the weather we've had!)? I'd expect full livery, whether grass or stabled, to include all hay and feed. I'd supply a basic feed and anything extra the owner can supply.

It wouldn't include hay as have TONS of grass (partly why i'm doing it) and feed would be from owner as it's so short term, it wouldn't make sense to change the feed....

Do you have any facilities, eg, arena, stable if needed, etc? If not, £20 per week tops. If you do all the looking after and are responsible for horses then that is classed as full livery, whether in or not - and full livery prices should apply - with price negotiation on hay/hard feed/rug changes at your discretion.

You are still responsible for the daily care then I'd probably halve what full livery charges in a 5 mile radius of you, as you'll need to protect your fields, stable, feed if needed, rug, call vet if they twonk around, hold for farrier/vet etc - and make all related decisions. You need to be fair though and prob knock a bit off again as it's summer?:)

When I go on holiday I leave my horses in their own fields with shelter and I pay someone to check on them once a day and she also does the poo picking - I give her approx £50 per week and am happy to do so because I know that they will be looked after by somebody who knows what they are doing.

£20 per week a bit cheap for full responsibility to look after the horses while the owner is away.

I think somewhere around the £40 mark is very reasonable for peace of mind! I know I would happily pay that & abit more to make sure mine were cared for out at grass if I needed it. Compare £40 ish per week for grass livery to £110-150 for full stabled livery, I know which I prefer :)
My lot do live out at the mo albeit two veterans a pony & a shettie.

sorry, perhaps I wasnt clear enough - As I said if she has full responsibility I think about half of full livery fees should apply.
I meant £20 if it was diy, but grass livery

£50 a week especially if you are going to be picking out feet, grooming, fly spray etc - work out how much time this would take you each day and then charge at least £6 an hour for your time plus standard grass livery of say £15 a week.
