Has anyone had good or bad experience of using one of these? wanting to know what is the best hayrack solution. This one is accessible from outside the stable and reaches down nearly to the floor.
A yard I taught at had these. There were no problems as long as they were actually emptied regularly as the stuff in the bottom got old. I would be wary of any horse with small feet as the round bars make it possible for a foot to go through (triangular hard front) but not come back out (soft wedge shape).
I had one that bit a huge chunk out of his tongue pulling faces and accidentally hitting the bars between stable - the ability to self harm is endless.
There was blood everywhere called vet but nothing could be done for a tongue injury - it healed but he always had a bit missing from it - a bit bigger than a golf ball!
