For all those on full livery - how many times per week do you get your yard to ride your horse for you? Is it acceptable to expect the yard to ride the animal twice a week for you, if you can do the rest of the week yourself? Or is it acceptable for the yard to push back and only be willing to lunge the horse, even though you paid for full livery?

It just depends on the yard. If it's full livery it might be all the care but without exercise and then full exercise livery is all care and exercise. If you ask the livery yard they might exercise but will charge seperately.

Isn't this something that should be established quite clearly at the start of a contract? If the livery contract says "horse will be ridden 4x per week" then yes, someone should be riding it, rather than just lunging or sticking it on the horsewalker. However, if the contract simply says "exercised 4x per week", then i don't think you can expect it to be ridden every time. Have you considered coming to an arrangement with another livery, or getting a sharer to help with the exercising?

In my books full livery means rididng evety day unless you say that you don't want it ridden, ie if your coming up to ride. I wouold say that a lunge or two a week is ok,else hacking exercise.
