Hi, I am in the process of setting up an equestrian services business in Lincolnshire, doing part livery, racehorse pre-training, rehabilitation, holiday livery and breaking in. However, I am struggling a little bit with regards to what to charge for full livery. I have heard prices of between £50 and £190 a week in various different places round the country, so I think it much depends on where abouts you are!

Anyway, I would be interested to hear what you pay for full livery, mainly in Lincolnshire but other areas too, and wht you get for this price plus the facilities the yard has.
I would also be grateful, even if you are not on full livery, if you could give me an opinion on what you think I could charge, or what you wuld be willing to pay, based on the info below. Many thanks in advance.

Ok, heres what full livery would include.

FULL LIVERY SERVICES
All hard feed, hay and straw bedding.

Muck and skip out.

Full daily groom.

Turnout, as applicable, rug changes etc.

Daily exercise programme as discussed with yourself.

Clipping, if required, of your choice and to suit your horse's needs.

Trim, mane/tail pulling and tidy up.

Tack cleaned daily.

Liaising with farrier, physio, vet etc.

Competition preparation and after care.

Transport to and from competition/hunting (by prior arrangement and additional charges apply) *

Weekly report on a day to day basis on how your horse is progressing.

Veterinary after care; bandaging, poulticing, cleaning of wounds etc.

Tack up, prior to owner riding and wash down after ridden.

*Transport can be arranged by ourselves and charged on a mile basis.

FACILITIES:

20x40m indoor sand school
20x60m outdoor sand and rubber school
7/8 mile sand gallop
Poly-jump showjumps
XC fences including logs, tyres, ditches, banks and more
Direct off-road hacking
Miles of country lanes
Individual or group all-year turnout, if required.

So, what do you all think?

Thanks

Crikey, that sounds great!
Elms Farm at Caythorpe charge around £125pw for full livery, but I don't think that includes daily exercise.
I had one at hunting livery that was £90 a couple of seasons ago, but didn't have the facilities you are offering.
I know of another near Boston where part livery (everything but execising) is £50, but again not your level of facilities & no winter turnout.

That sounds fantastic to me it the top prices in your area are £190 then i would possibly charge just below that price as you seem to be offering everything anyone could possibly want.

The eventer based out our yard takes (North East Lincs) horses on sales prep for £110 a week, ridden 6 times a week all stable duties etc.

My friend has her horse on full sales livery with the local hunt hire yard for £100 a week.

I have just secured part livery on a private yard near newark which is tailored to full livery Monday-Friday, turnout - bring in, rug change, basic groom, muck out feed ect so I don't need to go down. Then at the weekend he will be turned out and I will do him this is £65 a week.

The general prices in that area seemed to be based on around £10 a day full livery without excercise.

He will be in a huge american barn rubber matted stable, 60x20 rubber arena, free trailer parking, exceptional home grown forage, 1 shavings a week 24 turnout if wanted, good grazing and hacking.

I have always had mine on DIY but am pregnant and will be living in 2 places for the next 3 months, I've seen about 5 yards and the deciding factor was personal attention, I want my horse looked after to the standard I look after him not chucked out and forgotten about, also the state of the yard had a big impact the place I chose is immaculate and created an excellent first impression. Also as a YO seem interested in potential clients horses some people just seemed to see pound signs which was really off putting, flexibility also appealed to me regarding feed and bedding I didn't mind paying a little extra to get what I wanted rather than be dictated to, if you're aiming for the top end that might be worth thinking about.

Hope that helps, your package sounds great.

Thanks so much fr all your positive comments!

welshmonsters, sadly the £190 p/w i had heard of wasnt in Lincs bt newmarket way!

We do do a part livery service which is basically the same but without comp prep and transport, and horses dont get exercised, unless you pay extra. We were going to charge around £75 for this, plus 12.50 per ride if they did want a horse exercising say just once or twice a week, so it seems we were about right with that price wise anyway!

gails, thanks , at the moment we dont need any help as we are empty! PLus there are 2 of us (sisters) so we should manage for now! You never know though if t all takes off we could be in touch!

Thanks again guys
