I insure my loan horse myself, but my old loan horse was insured in owners name, and I just paid her the monthly premium via standing order

It depends on the arrangement and contract with the owner. I have loaned horses and also loaned my pony out. Generally the loanee will pay for all the keep of the horse - livery, feed, shoes etc... I have also in the past had to pay vets fees, back man, teeth and insurance myself but I have also had an agreement whereby the owner paid the insurance (i think so she was happy the horse was fully insured), and I also had by BHS gold member insurance, she also had in the agreement that we would split vets fees up to a certain amount.

I have one on loan for my daughter and my own and her owner pays the insurance. She has gone up in value from £1000 to £3500 because of everything she has done with us .Owner is happy and so are we.Good luck the best thing we ever did.

Yes when i loaned out i kept the insurance in my name and the loaners were supposed to pay me back monthly just make sure you get it all covered in the loan agreement exactly what you are responsible for.
