Am just about to get my heavyweight sorted for this year. Want a full neck as opposed to detach as dont want any joins or seams. My horse is thoroughbred so pretty skinny and very sensitive withers, hence no seam or joins. Have got my choice down to the weatherbeeta orican freestyle combo, the gfs combo and the mark todd combo. Anyone had any of these and have any advice/opinions?
Thanks

I recently bought a mark todd heavyweight combo from equestrian clearance - they had them with £40 off

My TB has the WB Orican combo and it fits him really well. He didn't wear it all winter as he was in quite a lot but it showed no signs of rubbing anywhere

Would definitely recommend.

I love my Mark Todd combo so much I have the heavyweight, mediumweight and lightweight version!!! As well as all of his stable rugs!! It is fab - a couple of horses on the yard have them - they fit all shapes and sizes - even high/sensitive withers. I don't rate any others for warmth and dryness.

My 28yo tb has a weatherbeeta Taka combo, ive had it 4 winters now and was worth every penny!! she is snug as a bug, it never moves and even on the nights when she stays in i leave it on just pull it forward and turn the neck back.

Another vote for the Mark Todd Combo, had one on my little TBx who lived in it as she weaved for England and it was the only thing that didnt rub her shoulders

Liked it so much I replaced Baileys Rambo with one!

I don't know if the Orican is any better than the Taka but I had a bad experience and wouldn't go for Weatherbeeta again. I found the WB Taka Freestyle combo very restricting around the shoulders and neck. It was like the neck was too small, especially when the horse bent her neck to graze. There was an open gap at the front between the front and neck fastenings. I bought two, for my 2 horses, both Irish Sports and TB build. The slightly chunkier horse was just no good in the rug at all and I sold it on eBay. I kept the other one for a spare but would much rather use Rambo or Fal.

I don't know about Mark Todd, they may be better.

I had the Mark Todd full neck for a couple of winters but my chap lost 2/3 of his mane with it - not impressed! So I bought the Premier Equine turnout and I love it! No mane rubbing and his mane started regrowing when I started using it and really cosy. They have options of an attached neck or a detachable neck - so bought both!

I'm hoping to get one of their stable rugs this winter but new catalogue not out until next week.
