Hello all,

Just wanted to know how much all the full time loaners paid for?
I've had an offer to have a mare for 6 days a week and the requirement is to pay everything apart from insurance and shoeing. Meaning I'd pay for her stable rent/ food/ hay/ bedding etc.

I've part loaned previous to this so can't really compare costs.

I'd say that was brilliant. I full loan my boy (7 days a week) and have to pay 100% of everything and i'd say insurance and shoes are two of my biggest costs!

Go for it, good luck.x

A full loan would normally pay for everything. The only grey area being insurance (sometimes loaner pays that, sometimes owner).

You say 6 days a week, does that mean owner planning on doing 7th day?

I was looking to get my own but was approached with the offer. It sounds like a good opportunity but I'm not sure as if i'm going to pay 90% then seems better to have my own?

I had a full loan for 6 months, horse came to my yard and I got to do what I wanted with him. Don't know if it was just because the owner knew me - I paid for everything but she had agreed to pay for his insurance still which worked out well for me

I have my mare on full loan - Shes a perfect in everyway! I moved her away from the owners yard though as I felt that Ill be able to be myself more and do my own thing without being "bitched" at lol - sounds silly but then Im used to my private field where theres only 3 of us not a livery, although Ive been on liverys before and found it alright but anyways ..

I pay for everything - her trimms - vaccinations - field rent (shes out 24/7 doesnt like stables so dont need one) but shes also on full livery - so all the feed hay and everything is included. Rugs on and off and I dont have to be there for the farrier or vet as the field owner does it all. Although I prefer to be there obv but if im working then shes always there to help.

Her son is also a really good horseman and he gives me free jumping lessons etc! Its good - But now I do wish that I could buy her - I was considering buying a new one so it would be mine but then I couldnt give Gypsy back as I loved her too much lol. I wish I could buy her in the future although shes turning 10 lol xxx

I have a pony on full loan, he came to the yard my other horse is on and i pay everything - stableing, shoeing, vets fees, insurance (owner didn't mind if i insured him or not but i have) etc.

We loaned our lad for two years before we bought him. We paid a loan fee annually to the ower and met 100% of costs as well. The only excpetion was when he got his rugs nicked the ower offered to help with the cost of replacing them (they were her rugs anyway!). But they were insured so it wasn't necessary.

I have my mare on loan, and I pay for everything including insurance, and keep her at my preferred yard.

I'd be quite happy if her owner wanted to ride her at the weekends - unlike most people, I have much less time at the weekends, so I'd be glad of extra help on one day!
