I've recently moved to a new house with yard and grazing.... and there are two big waterbutts on the yard that are full...

I also noticed there wasn't actually any drains on the yard and these were collecting the rainwater from the guttering.

I'm not sure what to do with the rainwater from them? does anyone else have similar set up?

A yard where I used to keep my pony, we used to use rain water and water collected from a well for everything! The water fed into the automatic drinkers was from the rain. We didn't have any taps at the yard. The horses all drank the water and were all fine! Although we've since moved the horses back to a yard where there is tap water and the first few nights the horses drank their buckets dry! So guessing they thought tap water tasted lots better!

Whilst animals will drink rain water they usually prefer ground water (i.e. well, spring or tap water). Ground sourced water is more likely to contain minerals (such as calcium), and rain water is "soft" (no calcium), it also contains airborne pollutants - but then ground water also contains pollutants.....
