I have just started using a fulmer snaffle on my horse to help him with his steering and I have put the little leather keepers on the top part of the bit sides so they attach to the cheek pieces - which I always thought they should be used with this bit and have used them in the past with an old horse I had. I have noticed pictures in mags though of what looks to be a fulmer without the leather keepers - do they have any effect on the bit's action? Does it matter if they aren't used? Or is it just a cheeked eggbut that doesn't need the keepers?

Sorry if I sound stupid but I was just wondering............if anyone has an answer it would be appreciated! Thanks
