Fuming *rant time*

We have this person down the stables who just seems to rub people up the wrong way.

Tonight we had some new people move on to the yard with their horse, obviously being socialble i said hello and asked if i could do anything to help them etc etc and had a little chat about the yard and hacking etc and then i carried on and brought Indi in.

Anyway as i was leading Indi past the new family were like !"isnt he beautiful etc etc" they followed me to my stable and were asking questions about him and me which is fine, i am always happy to talk about my horse *laughs out loud*.

Anyway while we were talking this other livery on my yard came up to us and said " oh yes Indi is a nice pony but a very very hard ride"

Now firstly my horse is 17hh and hardly a pony! and although he has his quirks is not a complicated ride if you know what buttons to press, infact hes a nice enjoyable honest horse etc.

This little twirp then went on to say. "now my horse is like a ferrari, infact no other horse compares to him"

His horse is a 25 year old thoroughbred who he gallops everywhere and basically runs in to the ground at any opportunity. He has had all the life run out of him and makes me sad just looking at him cause there is nothing i can do.

I dont care what this pillock thinks of my horse (2 months ago he was begging me to let him ride Indi) and to be honest he can tell people anything he likes, i love my horse and my horse loves me and we just enjoy what we do together.

It just annoys me that he is so up himself, hes actually upset my mom a few times.

He told her Rolo is like a cart horse and that he feels that my mom is getting bored of him!! i mean the cheek! my mom has worked so hard on Rolo and she loves him alot, This man seems to think that anything other than a thoroughbred is no good.

I mean grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cant somebody just shoot him!
 
don't really understand why you are letting this chap bother you. If you think he is overriding his horse then tell him, and see how he likes it.

I will never understand this 'silently seething' approach

honey there is always one at every yard, just laugh about them, at them and dont go near them!!! they soon learn if they have to ride alone each night while youre enjoying your social pub rides with fellow riders............
 
There is one on every yard, and they usually have the crappest horse!!!!

Jealousy is a dreadful thing.... it makes people want to slate your horse to make theirs look better, it all comes out in the end, so dont worry there will be egg on his face soon.

But dont let it get to you, we all know that our horses are the best!!!!
 
Just to clarify, me and this livery have had words on numerous occassions. The last time we got seperated by the yard manager.

He knows i think hes a T$at who knows sod all im usually very vocal about my feelings towards him and what he does to his horse but obviously mouthing off in front of a new livery is not a good approach.

So please do not assume that im silently seething.
 
I agree with merlinsquest - there's one on most yards, they are usually disfunctional human beings with problem horses!
 
There is one on every yard. Although I actually prefer the ones that are like the people on my yard...... so jealous that they can't even speak to you about your new horse!!!!!!!!! Suits me!!

Ooh, get him! Shame his horse and abilities don't match his ego, then he'd be in a position to comment! I feel sorry for his poor horsey, though. At 25 he should really be allowed to take it a bit easy. Sounds like you and your mum have nice horses, so every time he comments just give him a superior, smug smile and say "Whatever"!!!
 
I would interpret:
"oh yes Indi is a nice pony but a very very hard ride" as meaning he cannot ride any horse that does not have a simple on/off switch. I would take that as admission of his own inability rather than a criticism of your horse.
 
Indie will prove him wrong if you take new family out for rides with you, its obviously jealousy!!! i love the names you call him by the way!! PMSL!!!!!!
