Hi all

Going on my first fun ride this weekend. I have read just now you set off in groups of 15 with a member of the hunt. I presumed went just in our own couples or groups. What will happen if we are not the same speed as the others?! Horse is a loon when cantering in groups!

Thanks :)

They will probably ask you if you want to go fast, or slow - and allocate you to the appropriate group.

You'll need a guide to show you the route.
Perhaps they split you off into groups according to speed.
Don't worry about it. It's not pony club camp and they won't have you doing boring/hard stuff you don't want to be doing. It will be fun.
Just tell the organsisers you are looking for a steadier group at the start.

Have you checked with the organsiers to make sure you are expecting is what you are getting.

Not sure which hunt you are going with but if I was turnign up to some renowned big hunt's ride, I would not expect to be plodding round at riding club pace..... but some hunts spend their time plodding round anyway, so you would be fine regardless.

Ultimately, the kind of person who turns up to a happy hunt ride is not the sort aiming for Bdminton or the Grand National so I would imagine you will be amongst like-minded friends.

you lucky lucky person, what a good idea, you will have brilliant fun. Just stick behind a horse that doesnt kick and you will be fine. If worried about fitness ring organiser of ride - I am sure they will eassign you an appropriate group.
