Hi All
Anyone know if as stated in title there is any local showing, showjumping or fun rides on in this area. Any info appreciated. Just brought a new little box and am dying to put it to use.lol

ooh, come join us at the National Forest Riding Club.

Unless of course you have a coloured in which case forget you've ever heard of it, it wouldn't be for you

Hi,
What is the National Forest Riding club? It sounds like fun, I dont have a coloured I have a bay thoroughbred mare. Though am sure your joking cus you have a lovely colored. Have got an Apaloosa filly though shes only seven months old so it would only be in hand for her.

Re;Pidge
Thank you for the threads you have sent they are very helpful, will be def going stafford riding show this year. I love that show, go every year, dont think that starts until May though. As I am actually from Staffordshire the closer the bettter. I think there is a fun ride on soon in Nottingham - dont have exact details though. Ha Ha - Never do though - very disorganised.

first show for Stafford is beginning of May, did you go last year then?
There is also Penkridge, Greenacres and also a yearly BHS show over at Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase and a yearly show at Eccleshall (3rd sep I think) that looked really good last year but it was very wet and deep so we turned round without taking horses off the box.

Hi Pidge
Yes went Stafford riding club. And lol went Eccleshall Show last Sept, in all the mud, the rain and the wind. A big turn out for such a vile day. Well worth it though my youngster won the Mountain and Moorland Class there in Hand , first show first time out he got a medal. Awww - I was very proud.lol

I assume you're from South Staffs? I'm as North Staffs as you can get as when I hack out most routes cross the Cheshire border! I'm very close to Crewe.

Sport Endurance UK do loads of rides in the Staffs/Derby area and most of them are pleasure rides that you can enter as a non-member and non-competitively.

Patches: Yes am from stoke on trent area. I have been looking into the sport endurance website and it seems just up my street. I went on the Cannock Chase Fun Ride, that was thirteen miles - joined up with an endurance riding enthusiast and completed it quickly and easily. Am paying now cus I ache like hell am only in my twenties and feel ancient with all the aches and pains I have. Was worth it though, the nag and I enjoyed it and we will do some more.

I did their Christmas one at Apedale. Really enjoyed it even though the weather was vile.

If you're from Stoke...what area? PM me if you like (just the town). My parents live in Longton, sister in Fenton and we're close to Audley.

Have you ever been to Somerford Park Farm near Congleton? What about the new farm ride at Balterley? That's down the road from me so bang on the border with Staffs/Cheshire. Close to Betley if that helps you.

Another member of Sport Endurance (Staffs) here......both me and my daughter ride with them and also on any other fun ride withing spitting distance, lol.

We did the Bob Champion ride on Cannock Chase too.......first big ride of our season, I had forgotten what three hours in the saddle does to your backside!

There is a ride at Bridgnorth on 25 March and also 3rd April at Adderley nr Market Drayton.

Local rides tend to pop up in the Express & Star on a Friday :-)

Endon show in the summer (August I think) was always a fun one to go to - not sure if it still runs, was a few years back I last went! There are a couple of groups that do charity rides through Hanchurch woods which are always quite fun, and Somerford Park and Cannock Chase are fun too.

emma69, you dont have details of whomever puts on the rides at Hanchurch do you?

I used to ride there when I was a kid..........it would certainly bring back memories!

I don't off the top of my head - I'm an ex-pat now, so all rosettes etc are tucked away in a box in the UK! It might have been something to do with the North Staffs Birdleway Association? It's pretty accessable if you want to just go up and ride there - we used to have permits, locked gates etc, but I think that may have stopped now?
