Has anyone got any tips on things to do with a horse that now isn't ridden and is bored?
He used to do advanced medium dressage which he loved and needs something to think about and do. He shows off to the other horses in the fields but I just feel he wants something to actually do.

Or maybe he doesn't and its just me thinking he does, anyone been in a similar situation?

My horse is still in work, but I do 'tricks' and games from the ground to keep him supple and happy

It usually involves treats, so make sure you have some handy!

I like to do a stretching exercises to get him flexing; reach his nose to each hip bone then right down between his front legs, then (I get a step ladder!) reach as high as you can so he stretches his neck right up!

I also do a couple of tricks like teaching him how to 'kiss', bow, lift his legs right up and out, bowing and crossing his legs over.

Here's the kissing trick!

Kalley Krikeburg, has expressed the view that working horses at liberty on the ground could be a discipline in itself. I tend to agree, but think convincing the conventional world would be an uphill struggle, lol. However, if you cannot ride a horse, this is skillful, stimulating and requires a good relationship between you and your horse. If you don't have the relationship right, you cannot do it as the horse will leave you.
