A most strange video Mr Darcy!

Fox runs along railway camera pans right

Fox exits shot

Cue Video panning left (same location?) showing confused looking hounds clearly not on the scent

Hounds then exit across railway line nowhere near foxy.

The sceptic in me says splicing - very easy to do with movie maker...

Plus I dont get the point of the story - the hounds were called off. Its the countryside. Both foxes and hounds do encounter each other even post Hunting Act...maybe the fox didn't know he should be consorting with such dubious elements of society

Saw it too.

Hilarious, no hounds speaking nor in a hurry, charlie clearly not in a hurry either and you could also hear that hounds were being pushed back!!

No case to answer.

so you have seen the raw footage then? it would make sense that the bbc edited the clip for visual effect rather than devote 20 minutes of its news to the one item to show it in full.

When 'teapot' says "the IFAW just happened to be at the right point of the railway line at the right time to 'film' this." - what exactly are you trying to imply? - it didn't happen, ifaw released the fox for effect, they called the hounds onto the track to get a story?

perhaps one of the main points of the story was that the trains are doing 70mph+ at that location, one passed only 3 minutes before the hounds went on the line and another, 8 minutes after they left it. It would have been irresponsible at best if the hunt were laying trails alongside mainline railway tracks.
still what do i know?

polopony - so you've seen the unedited footage then and not just the 2 minute piece on Points West?

No THHE - the point is - have you seen the original footage?
At least those reviewing the images here have experience of what hunting actually involves

If someone is going to create a sensational storyline eg someone attacking someone with a knife And then say they have video footage of them doing that AT LEAST have the alledged victim and attacker in the same frame!

You have stated that the BBC edited the footage - Have they?
If they have surely they would show the bit most explanatorty of the storyline
If they havnt then this is a moot point becaudse people unfamiliar with hunting are being given a storyline that does not match with that which is shown on the video

The footage shows:

Fox ambling away along railway line
Hounds (clearly not hunting) crossing line in an opposite direction

  • Hounds sometimes do lose a "trail"
  • Foxes and hounds do meet each other even post the Hunting Act
  • There are mryiads of ejjits out there with nothing better to do than following hunts that are legally hunting around with cameras

btw no hunt would lay a "trail" along a railway line...hounds not speaking english sometimes fail to understand that there are places they shouldnt go - luckily for the hounds and the hunt the hounds were removed from the railway.

From this video IFAW (LINK) are claiming that

The BBC has just reported that a volunteer International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) hunt monitor filmed a fox being pursued by hounds on a railway track.

I am asking that all posters review the video link from the BBC (LINK)

It clearly shows fox in one screen shoot travelling awaying along railwayline
and then a second shot of hounds (not hunting) crossing railway line in an opposite direction

There is a comment section on the bottom of the IFAW page relevant to this piece of fiction

I suggest that posters take the time to show what they think of the video....
