Hi all

My boyfriends moms pony isn't interested in eating hay, we've also tried Horsehage (Timothy) and Haylage but he's not interested in that either.

Is there anything else we can give him?

He was always interested in hay until he ended up on box rest earlier this year and I think he's just bored of it. We are going to be turning him out during the day and bringing him over night to get and keep weight on him.

We've also tried giving him hi-fi molasses free as a hay replacer but he's now only eating half of it.

He also gets two feeds a day and a small bucket of fast fibre over night

We have to be really careful with him as he's had laminitis.

My mare is also a lammi prone faddy eater with hay issues and she absolutely loves Baileys Fibre Plus Nuts - they're treat size pellets which you can scatter on the ground to make them forage and slow up the eating pace. She will always walk past her regular hard food for them.

Thanks :)

Can you only feed a certain amount of them?

AS he'd be in from around 4.30pm until around 10am

If the hay is ok I wouldn't worry, my two went in a huff during the summer due to being kept in through the day (both fat) just picked at the hay I gave them and spent a lot of time gazing lovingly at the field over the tied up gate.
This sounds like a guilt trip
