It really takes the p*** TBH.
Got to the yard early this morning, partof the yard had flooded, and the fields had standing water on them which meant couldn't put G and A out for a bit in their little pens.
G soon realised this and got narky, banging the door and pulling faces when we went past. A haynet soon sorted that out though.
Did all the mucking out, filled a load of haynets, where the hay then flew across the yard causing a bit of a mess

The wind died down a fair bit so decided to lunge A, tacked her up, and went to open the gate in the school. Opened the latch, and then the wind blew and caught my finger between the gate and the fence which has left my index finger throbbing

And then when I'd finally got A going nicely on the lunge, the end of the whip blew up in the wind and caught me on the face

Which left me tangled in the lunge line and amber a few meters closer!!

Decided to get on as the wind wasn't too bad, but abou 15 minutes into the riding, it began to wet it down and the wind picked up leaving me with A's head in the air after I'd got her working long and low

and my face has dried and my lip has split a bit.
Finished it pretty soon after that with aches and pains, and then I tripped over into a puddle, soaking part of my knee and hand

Don't think today was my day. I'm just hoping the weather next week will be better!

Anybody else found the weather a struggle to handle?

Yes ... it's the WIND I cannot cope with

Since the 1987 (dare I say 'hurricaine'

) I get really twitchy and then combined that with rain and it's ten times worse

I had to laugh last week tho, when I went behind my tarpaulin to get some hay and found myself wrapped up in it and could not get out

Oh, yes! This weather is a horror. It does not seem to have stopped raining here for days.
Yesterday I slipped in the mud turning out 2 yearling colts. They shot off up the drive and across the fields as I went flying. All I could see was legs and lead ropes!
Then this morning a 2 year old filly spooked and landed me in the mud again.
I am this close to giving up and booking a flight to somewhere sunny....

It is absolutely beastly - and I think that we (fingers crossed) have come through the worst of the wind and rain - but it has left all our fields virtually unuseable, and nothing but bog.

And I think I might have chipped a bone in my knuckle on my right hand - it hurts to much!

argh!! the rain here is that fine rain that gets everything soaked very quickly!! fields are wet but not as bad as they have been, and lucky no wind, had that last week and don't want it back!! Henry seemed to be egar to go out this morning though, so i happily let him in the field with his friends and he trotted off not caring about the mud and rain...thank God i'm not a horse...i couldn't stand it.

Yep but my ride wasnt too bad, had pretty much stopped raining. Its the incontinent horse that gets on my nerved

She managed to wee all over everywhere, knock her brushing boots into her water bucket, and poo about 600 times. Horses eh!

Don't like it as my retired chap has to come in and his arthritis doesn't like being stuck in a stable
frown.gif
So took him out for a walk up the road this morning which he seemed to enjoy

Yellow beastie got 30mins in his field with Shettie whilst I mucked out this morning. Luckily his field is on a hill so once you get through the mud at the gate it's dry
smile.gif

It stopped raining at lunch and we had planned to ride so we went for a windy hack
smile.gif
Which is when I realised just how good Monty is for a 6 year old
grin.gif
There were 3 horses charging up and down the fence next to them and he wasn't bothered at all
grin.gif

Used Monty's field to turn out D and the filly for 30 mins this afternoon whilst we mucked out again
smile.gif

Really would like it NOT to rain anymore though, please

It hasn't stopped peeing down most of the day here (Essex/Suffolk border) Our fields are under water but luckily mine is the highest up and therefore the driest. The wind has been howling too.

I've just seen ther weather and they did a little 'and Easter weekend is looking like'................ FRIGGING SNOW FOR MOST OF THE COUNTRY
