D was sound after her short, mild lameness and the vet was happy it was probably just going to be one of those things. Having brought her gradually back into work she's gone lame again, different leg this time!

Any ideas why she would be lame again but on a different leg? The possibility i'm hanging onto is that i know her pelvis is a little unbalanced at the moment but was advised to keep her in gentle work until the chiro could come to keep things mobile. Could an unbalanced pelvis be causing this randomn lameness?

I know it seems a bit dramatic to be worried over something small but if she was only ever going to be a pet she'd have to be PTS as she's tetchy when she's not worked. Really hoping it doesn't turn out to be anything more serious.

with abby's lameness she was lame on a different leg every other week

thankfully we're headin on up now fingers crossed, hers was put down to arthritis

She's out 24 hours in a very small paddock with us not knowing what it is we didn't want to stable her and have it stiffen up.

If it is arthiritis what's the prognosis? Will she ever be a competition horse again?

well abby is 18 and evented at 2 and 3 star level before coming to me, so it was expected

after all our other problems abbesses etc, i have been given the all clear to bring her back into full work. we just control it by bandaging her when in and giving her superflex cause its not severe and as long as she's getting out as much as possible doesn't cause her any bother now

Although i know it can happen to any horse i wouldn't say D is a typical candidate for arthiritis. She was in very light work until 9, happy hacked for the next two years with me and then has been competing this year but not loads or on hard ground or anything.

Don't worry so much!!

She is a big chunky monkey who has probably just tweaked something in compensation for her first poorly leg!! Just a thought - not an abcess? Our little Section A was on 3 legs at the weekend - think it was from hooing around when the shoot were here and tweaked something - anything exciting gone past your yard?

Another vote for try not to worry! I expect it's probably just a very bad luck coincidence.

BTW have been nosing round these forums for a few weeks now and keep noticing your signature - I just love your mare, she's gorgeous, and it's lovely to see a slightly heavier horse in really good, fit condition and not carrying extra weight! Hope she's on the mend soon!
