The paddock my girl is in has been grazed right down. The YO said she'd erect a new paddock and move her 2 days ago....hasn't happened.
So in the search for decent grass girlie has decided to push through the fence tape.
As I was leaving the yard this morning I had a final glance over to check on her and she'd gone.
I fixed the fence and put her back in but as soon as I started to drive off again I saw her push through it again.
I will admit I left her where she was:
a) I know where she has broken into is safe and secure
b) there are no horses where she has broken into so won't be a bother to them
c) fixing the fence and putting her back in would make me a further 20 mins late for work
d) she'll only break out again 5 mins after I've left anyway.

Maybe this will motivate YO to get on with new paddock....if she's not moved tonight I'm setting up the paddock myself. If it's not where YO wanted it then maybe she should have done as she said she would.

I don't trust the yard to do the simple requests I have - so much so that I'm training up my totally non-horsey OH to turn my girl out one day next week because I have an early meeting rather than ask the yard to do it.
(don't get me started on the day they left her in a stable all day with no bed or hay and only a dribble of water!)

When I was looking for a yard and was considering part livery someone said to me "no-one will care for your horses was well as you would yourself"
I think she's right (I'm on assisted DIY by the way)

If that was me on your livery Im sorry l would move. If im paying my hard earnt cash to get very sub optimal care or no care, then sod them im off. Its no different to going to a restuarant and having a cold meal or a undercooked meal really, at the end of the day your a paying customer. Have you spoke to your YO about it?

As for her breaking out is it electrified ??

Might be worth giving her some hay in there until YO sorts it.

If she continues getting out even of new paddock I would consider tethering, I resorted to this with a cob, if done properly then its fine.

They are right to a certain extent.
While I am a firm believer that nobody could look after my horse the way I did no matter how many detailed instructions I left them. ( and I'm not even fussy! ) I finally found a place where the people did do as they said they would, did not ask questions when you asked them to do something, and care for him as if he is their own.

It doesn't hurt to shop around, but maybe don't be in a rush to do it.

I wonder if they'll even bother putting up a new paddock for your girl. Maybe they'll put her back and then put her in her stable when they can't be bothered to keep catching her. :/

It really does wind me up when you pay these people so much money and they can't even provide you with the basic service you pay them for.

Time to move: I have a very considerate YO, stabled horses are checked several times a day, from 8.00 am to 11.00 pm, oldies can be fed as often as they need.
Hay and water topped up if he thinks they need it, he puts them out and brings them in , there are some drawbacks, but the fact that I am happy to leave my horse in his care, is a great relief after some yards where a horse could be standing on three legs and no one notices.

Funny you should say that - I have arrived at the yard a few times now to find her in her stable rather than in the field. Judging by the state of her bed she'd not been in long but it does irritate me.
At the moment I'm not asking for any assisted service so am on DIY but if the YO had said that I should sort out a new paddock I would have. She said she'd do it so I thought she would.
The fence isn't electrified - another thing YO said she'd do a few days ago (ho-hum)

Result!
Arrived at yard this evening to find pony in new paddock (made sure I said thank you)
One of the kids on the yard had found her escaped the other day and put her in her stable so it wasn't the yard staff that had put her in (not the 2nd time anyway)
Pony is happy again which is all that matters.
