My tb is looking very thin at the moment.
He's been off work for a month, due to a problem with his hock, and was on box rest for 3weeks.
I'm struggling to get any weight on him. He's now out, on a limited paddock, and is having hay as needed.
He gets 1big round scoop of calm and condition, 1big scoop of alpha a oil chaff and 1 small scoop dodson and horrell build and glow, twice daily.
Any suggestions on feed to give him a bit more weight?
He will be having a month more off then, hopefully, starting light work. He does tend to be quite fizzy, so usually try to limit sugar intake.
All help/input gratefully recieved!

I've got a 3/4 arab which was exactly the same at the end of the summer last year. I tried soo many feeds and the one that worked for him was
Morning:
1/2 stub scoop of Baileys no.4 Conditioning cubes
1/2 stub scoop of Alpha A oil
1 little scoop of speedi beet

Evening:
1 stub scoop of Baileys no.4 Conditioning cubes
1 stub scoop of Alpha A oil
1 little scoop of speedi beet
A coffee mug measurement of oil.

It took a while to find the right mix, but he pilled on the pounds. I found the Dodson and Horrell feed didn't do anything for him, although he did love it, I did feel a bit guilty when I took him off the feed.

My OH horse is 17hh TB and can be difficult to put weight on. We have struggled this year as we've had litte grass. I was feeding him:
l
AM & PM - 2 scoops Conditioning mix, 1/2 scoop fast fibre plus additives and add lib hay during the day - out at night. He is only in light work at present as OH has been away for the last 2 months.

Last week I started to try TopSpec and changed the amount I was feeding at the same time. within a week he has put on weight but I am only feeding:

AM & PM - 1 scoop cool mix, 1/2 scoop fast fibre and additives. He is having 2 slices of small bale hay each day.

I know it's expensive but think I may be able to recoup considering how much I have been able to cut back.

Good luck

My sec D is hard to keep weight on, he isnot a good doer as he is very stressy, over the past year i have tried a few conditioning feeds but i have to feed low sugar and starch as he also has a sensitive digestion and he cannot have alfa a as it makes him come out in hives and i dont feed any kind of mix.

He is looking fab at the mo, well covered with a lovely very shiney coat, we dont have a lot of grass so he gets 2 feeds a day of:
1 big round scoop calm n condition
1/2 round scoop of fibre mash
1/2 cup of sunflower oil
1 cup of spillers original balancer
adlib hay at night

in winter i also feed readi grass or graze on
