GALUPY....How is willie?

Hey - glad to hear that Regan is doing well. Willie is also weight bearing and had been getting more and more of a handful over the last couple of weeks - a good sign but not easy to deal with! He actually got cleared to start walking yesterday though so he was allowed out twice for 10 minutes each time - slowly. The slowly was a bit of a problem so we had words so that he stopped bouncing up and down (he couldn't go forward because he was on a short lead) but his wagged the entire time windmill fashion. :D He'll stick at 10 mins this week then up to 15 next and then 20 and at that point he'll go in for an x-ray and check up to see if he is okay to carry on. I'm really happy with his progress though.

What's the plan for Regan?

I have never had regan fo a walk, but she has been walking off lead cos she never leaves me side to accompany me to work and been jumping in and out of car:eek:
She heals super fast even though I rest her longer than usual, she got out to the carpark at work when I was locking the gates and decided to try doing a wall of death aound the car park (obs excitement at being free to run) I sharp stopped he but it has done no damage.
She is also climbing stairs at work with me holding her collar so basically her exercise (movement) has been ongoing on a small gradual basis since the op, last time I would not let her walk anyhwere.
Its seems to have done her well as she is normal to look at and her swellin ghas subsided, both legs are same shape and size now, but no propper walks with other dogs for another few weeks and no running for another month atleast aftet the gadual walks, but I let her potter and go out in the garden alone or potter around work.

I think we've been a bit more lax with Willie this time as well to be honest. He's been getting up on the furniture for a couple of weeks but as he's been doing it carefully we've been letting him. He hasn't been allowed outside in the garden without a lead on though because he is an idiot and we have a large fenced in yard that he could do some damage in. He has been allowed to walk around the downstairs of the house as much as he wants though (when we are here - we've closed him in one room when we've been gone) as well as out onto our back deck (with the gate to the garden closed). We've also been allowed to add stairs back slowly as of yesterday so he's been going up and down steps, on the lead (shame - I was getting quite buff lifting him down them into the garden), and last night came upstairs to sleep for the first time since the op (I've been sleeping downstairs with him ). His leg is completely normal looking as well - no swelling and the scar is barely there - except that his coat hasn't quite grown back yet. He's got quite a few layers from whatever hunting dog is in his "breeding" and it grows back in layers. It is almost there now though. His walks are also alone - just him and me or my OH on a short lead (OH and Willie :D). I thought I would add the beagles when he gets to 20 minutes so they aren't too disappointed with the shortness of the "walk" ...
