Gap in clipper head too wide, blades fall out the side.

I can't really explain this very well but I shall try. I bought some clippers about two years ago, second-hand.

They didn't work (the blades wouldn't move). I borrowed a friend's clippers that winter, then I moved house and forgot about them.

I don't believe the person I bought them off was trying to pull a fast one or anything like that.

I had a look at them at the start of summer and I managed to fix the issue with the blades not moving. The rotary pole thing that moves had dislodged and misaligned. After unscrewing everything and putting it all back together, I got them working!

The problem was then that once the blades had been fitted, the gap between the head and where the blades lie (the smaller blade in particular) is too wide (even though I've tried to tighten it as best as I can). The moment they're switched on, the blades just fall out the side. :-/

Also, the part inside the head that holds the smaller blade (the two raised bumps which slot into the holes in the smaller blade) is recessed too far back within the head. If I loosen the screw and pull it out a bit further, so that it actually holds the smaller blade in place, the blades are then at an angle and the bar that holds them moves back on its own, regardless, no matter how much it's tightened.

Like I say, very hard to explain- certainly when you're not savvy with stuff like this (perhaps I need to go find me an OH ;)).

Will get pics later.

Extra info:
They are Masterclip.

Not sure if this helps but as soon as they are switched on, the smaller blade isn't held in place as the two raised bumps pivot too far back into the head. Does that make sense?

Rubbish at explaining!

Sounds like the wrong blades for the clippers? Would it be worth sending them off to a clipper servicer, or taking them to your local garage, see what they say? (My husband is a mechanic and always services mine!)

Ah, perhaps. I never thought of that. They were sent with brand new blades and also the old ones that came with the clippers. Both are Masterclip blades though so you'd think they'd fit.
Just pulled them out and had another look. I think the problem is the bar that holds the smaller blade. It moves back into the clipper head so that nothing is holding the top blade.

Having never had clippers serviced, do you know anywhere trustworthy that does them? How does one find a clipper servicer in the area? ;) Just want to make sure I don't send them off to a bunch of cowboys.

Have looked and came across one that you have to post to but nothing local- though I don't really know what I'm looking for, if I'm honest.

I was clipping a friends horse the other day when my wolsey clippers head broke. Two people on the yard offered me theirs to finish off and we couldnt get either to clip. Neither had ever used them before. They had little bumps in the blade. So I am no help. Depends where you live, masterclippers seem to be in Leics so you could contact them.
Luckily I ordered a new head for mine from UK clippers which arrived next day so I could finish off.

I have masterclip clippers with the two "bumps" you mention to secure the blades! You need to make sure the tension is tightened to move the "bumps" forward to secure the blades to stop them falling out if you get what I mean? Hope that makes sense!!

Moo, I love you!!!! :D

God, I could've sworn I'd tried every type of tension in the past. What a silly mistake. *hangs head in shame* Ah well, either way, it's worked and they're ready to role.

Thank you so much.

I feel incredibly daft now! Oh dear.
