Well I am meant to be going to Royal Ag this October, but I am now feeling the need to take a gap year to "find myself" abit.... a stressful year has meant i'm not as keen on going straight through

I want a balance of horsey/non horsey and some work and some play and travelling! What are your experiences? Any reliable contacts?

Any help would be Ace!

I did a ski season which was loads of fun......but bloody hard work!!!! It is great if you like skiing though but be prepared to graft for very little money and make sure you're in a good resort.

I then went travelling to South America with a friend for 3 months, the most fun I've ever had and a great place to find yourself :D

That video is so funny!
I am not in any way competent at skiing unfortunately :(

I am quite tempted by a few months in Oz, but my mum is auzzie so i will have to do the family bit aswell!

Re South America, my friend decided to escape the recession and went to Argentina where she has just spent almost a year on a ranch. She rides horse, looks after guests and enjoys the sunshine. The only downside is that I am not sure she wants to come back!

I took a gap year, planned on working, saving up a bit of money for uni but also to afford to have a decent competition season. But horses being horses, nothing ever goes to plan. Had to give my horse a few weeks off then gradually build up of work whilst his feet were repairing themselves (thats another story... :s) then after xmas, we really started to get going again, plenty of lessons and managed 4 events up untill the end of april. Then he goes and stands on nail, creating one of the worst puss in the foot our vet had ever seen (he could barely walk) meaning another 3 months off so that was my year over really!
Was very frustrating and most of my money went on vets fees and other bills
However, even though that was the downside, im glad I took a year out. It gave me the break I needed from education whilst giving me experiance in a work environment. I also got to go holiday a few times which was great. I came to uni with a great desire to be studying again.
You say you are tempted by going to Oz, why not do it? I would! Yeh you have to see family but not all the time :p Whatever you do im sure you'll enjoy it :)

One ticket to Argentina please?

If you are interested PM me and I will put you in touch with her. The photos of the place are amazing. They have thousands of acres for hacking and their day starts with rounding up 60 horses! She also learnt a bit of polo as they are hugely into polo.
