i was just thinking about maybe having a gap year and going to work in the usa. (question for the future really a year or two away yet) has anyone done that or works in the usa? what state would be best? what can i expect? and where would i look? dont really know much about it! i work on a racing yard already so i am not bothered about the hard work. Many of the ads ive read, say you must no how to rope ect.. Could i learn whilst working? i looked at the gap year websites and i dont really want to pay money to the companys plus there quite expensive, id rather go over there and work for a year or a season.
sorry for long and possibly clueless post. and the amount of questions!!!!!
xx

You could try a pm to GTs perhaps? He seems to have worked in several different horsey spheres.
As for knowing how to rope, I'm sure if an employer wanted you to do it they'd teach you their way.

Good Luck.

What are you looking to do? Work cattle? Find a rich American to get a greencard? Just play with horses? Let me know, we should be able to find something.

well we used to live on a farm, so i know how to milk, calve cattle ect.... would like to go on a ranch maybe and work with horses and if there is cattle then that would be fun to, it would be in a couple of years or so, so i can start saving now if i wanted to, just wondered what options there are really, its something i've always wanted to do.
xx
p.s thanks for help

Im doing this one is Australia whcih sounds quite similar to what you are wanting to do. You pay to do a training course, then once you have passed that, they find you work where ever in Oz you want to be and the type of work, eg working ranch, event yard, polo yard ect... (added bonus is that you get paid too!)

Its not USA but thought id bring Australiia into the equation. Or if you still want USA, im sure Real Gap (1st link) will have something similar for USa

glad to be of help
